Sir Alan Reid GCVO
Sir Alan has been Keeper of the Privy Purse and Treasurer to The Queen since August 2002. He is also Receiver-General of the Duchy of Lancaster. Formerly Chief Operating Officer for ... KPMG in the UK, his career at KPMG included being Global and European Chairman for Management Consulting, and Global and European Chief Financial Officer. Sir Alan is Chairman of Royal Collection Enterprises Ltd, a Trustee of the Royal Collection Trust and Deputy Chairman of Historic Royal Palaces. He is also involved with various other charities being Treasurer and a Trustee for the RNLI and is President of the King George V Fund for Actors & Actresses. In September 2012 Sir Alan was appointed GCVO in Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee Honours List. The Knight Grand Cross is the highest appointment of the Royal Victorian Order and given by The Queen for services to the Sovereign.
Alongside his commercial career as a lawyer at Linklaters, Christopher led the firm’s Community Investment, grant-giving and pro bono activities. He continues to provide pro bono legal and governance advice to ... many charities, especially Toynbee Hall, where he has been Chair of Trustees, and the London Symphony Orchestra. An enthusiastic cyclist, in 2006 he set up the fund-raising and grant-giving charity Cycle to Cannes. He is a personal champion of projects to assist social mobility at Oxford University. Since 2012 Christopher has been a trustee of The Queen’s Trust, active in its grant-making and in relationships with its beneficiaries. Christopher is also a Trustee of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
Michael Marks CBE
Michael is the Chairman of NewSmith Capital Partners LLP, which he founded in 2003. He was formerly co-Head of the Global Equities business of Merrill Lynch, which he joined in 1995, ... and where he subsequently held positions as Chief Operating Officer of Merrill Lynch Europe, Middle East and Africa and was subsequently named Executive Chairman. In 1998, he was named Vice President of the British Bankers Association and Chairman of the London Investment Banking Association (until February 2002). Michael was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1999 for services to Britain’s financial services industry. He was appointed as a non-executive Director of RIT Capital Partners plc in 2004 and Senior Independent Director in 2010.
Sir Trevor McDonald OBE
Sir Trevor McDonald OBE was born and educated in Trinidad where his career in the media began. He came to London in August 1969 to work as a Producer in the ... BBC Overseas Regional Service. He joined ITN as a General Reporter in 1973 and went on to anchor every ITN News programme. He has conducted interviews with some of the world’s most high profile leaders such as Nelson Mandela and George Bush. In January 2008, after a two year break, Sir Trevor briefly returned to ITV News for the re-launch of News at Ten. More recently he has presented documentaries for ITV including: Secret Caribbean, Secret Mediterranean, Might Mississippi and, most recently, Inside Death Row. Sir Trevor was awarded the OBE in 1992 and a Knighthood in 1999. He is married with three children.
Sandra is the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Oxford University Endowment Management Limited (OUem) having joined in September 2007. Prior to starting OUem, Sandra spent 14 years at ... the Wellcome Trust, most recently as Co-Head of Portfolio Management. OUem manages money solely for the charitable entities that comprise the collegiate University of Oxford via two funds; the Oxford Capital Fund and the Oxford Endowment Fund. The funds have a global and diversified approach and use mainly external managers. Sandra is also a Non-Executive Director of RIT plc.
Peter Mimpriss CVO
Peter Mimpriss was a Partner in Allen & Overy for thirty years. He was head of the firm’s Private Client Department and he established its Charity Practice Group. In that time ... he was appointed as the first Chairman of the Charity Law Association and he was a founder trustee of the Institute for Philanthropy. He also served on the Committee on Regulation of the Charitable Sector in England and Wales. In 2002 he took up office as the first Director of the Edmond J Safra Philanthropic Foundation and he then was appointed as Charities Adviser to HRH The Prince of Wales. He is now and has been a trustee of many national operating charities and grant-making foundations.
